Hawaii – The Big Island

The island's name is Hawaii, but it is mostly commonly known as The Big Island. It is twice as big as all the other islands combined. There is one other island in Hawaii with such a variety in its climate, unique scenery, and contrasts. Black lava fields mark much of the southwest side of the island while lush green tropical forest covers many other parts of the island. View a live volcanic range and Mauna Kea the tallest snow capped mountain in the Pacific. It takes about 6 hours to drive around the island. But, with so many tempting places to visit and enjoy, a stay for a week on the island is highly recommended. Major airports are located at Kailua-Kona and Hilo.
