Concert Bands, Jazz Ensembles, Orchestras & Choirs
Performance Guidelines
Aloha Music Festivals provide students in various instrumental and choral ensembles the opportunity to strive for musical excellence in their performances. We provide Nationally recognized and respected adjudicators and clinicians at each performance venue in order to offer each student and director excellent educational experiences and musical growth.
Concert Bands, Jazz Ensembles, Orchestras and Choirs may decide to attend our festivals for a rating only, for competition or for just the opportunity to perform for an audience at various locations. Each group will have a warm-up period before its performance. Rules and sample score sheets will be sent to each participating school once it has been established that they will be competing.
Music Exchange Program , Aloha Music Festivals can arrange a music exchange program with a high school musical ensemble like your own, if you so desire. This program will offer you the opportunity to listen to and perform for a Hawaiian high school musical ensemble, have time to visit with students for a cultural and musical exchange of ideas, and observe how Hawaiian schools cultivate their music programs.
For Concert Bands & Orchestras
, Aloha Music Festivals can provide
music stands, chairs, podium, acoustic piano,
(may be electric in some locations), four
timpani, concert bass drum, chimes, xylophone,
program announcer and cassette tapes for
adjudication and comments. Schools must
supply their own snare drums, sticks, mallet
instruments, mallets, cymbals, and other
equipment not listed.
For Jazz Ensembles , Aloha Music Festivals can provide music stands, chairs, acoustic piano,( may be electric in some locations), program announcer and cassette tapes for adjudication and comments and a sound system with three (3) microphones. Schools must supply their own percussion equipment, sticks, mallets, risers, and amplifiers.
For Choral Ensembles , Aloha Music Festivals can provide tuned acoustic piano, (may be electric in some locations), music stand for the conductor, a podium, three step choral risers, program announcer, and cassette tapes for adjudication and comments and a sound system with three (3) microphones.

Hi Dov,
Just a note to let you know how happy we were with the trip to Honolulu
this week. Everything could not have gone better, from the time we first
contacted you to send 28 band members and 22 chaperone's to Hawaii till
getting off the flight in Boston.
You and Joanne did a wonderful job putting this together, and gave us the
best deal for our dollar. The hotel you booked for us was in a great
location and the staff very accommodating. Randi at Jimmy Buffet's gave
us excellent breakfast for 50 every morning. on our last night, he put
together a good menu for dinner. The food was excellent, and the portions
were just right. He was on his game. Robert, Knox, and Harold, our
ground people, were the BEST. They were very knowledgeable and stayed
with us all the way. They had all of the necessary equipment ready to go
at each venue. They cared about us and thoroughly enjoyed each one of
our performances.
The students had one fine time. From 42 of us climbing Diamond Head to
playing at the USS Missouri to the Hard Rock and Polynesian Cultural
Center performance, to para sailing and snorkeling, these activities and
cultural experiences will be remembered for a long time.
Please enjoy the photos of our trip, as we'll be truly grateful for your
professionalism and memories for our students. We look foward to our next
trip in 2 years.
Best Regards, Jeff Tarr ,Trip Coordinator
